COLUMBUS, OH – The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) will be reopening its newest marina this summer, and entries will be accepted during the month of April for the boat dock lottery. The Alum Creek Marina, located near Lewis Center in Delaware County north of Columbus, will now boast larger slips and some will now include water and utility connections.
Interested boat owners may apply for the dock lottery by visiting the Alum Creek State Park administrative office, located at 3305 Old State Road, Delaware. Business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.-12 p.m. and 1-4:30 p.m. Applications may also be returned via certified mail by Friday, April 28. Boat owners should submit a current copy of their boat registration and title with the lottery application.
The new dock holder drawing will be held at the Alum Creek administrative office on Saturday, May 6, at 9 am. Applicants do not need to be present to win. Lottery winners will be notified via email, and the names of successful applicants will be posted at the park office. Lottery winners will be required to attend a new dock holder meeting on Saturday, May 20.
No general use tax dollars were used to fund construction of the marina. It was built with funds from the Waterways Safety Fund, which consists of watercraft registration and title fees, a share of the state motor fuel tax and funding through the U.S. Coast Guard.
