Deridder Man Cited for Closed Season Turkey Hunting

Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries enforcement agents cited a Deridder man for an alleged turkey hunting violation on March 27 in Beauregard Parish.

Agents cited Azell Ott III, 53, for hunting turkey during a closed season.

Agents got a tip that Ott was turkey hunting on a property in Deridder. Agents went to Ott’s residence to question him and he admitted to turkey hunting that morning, March 27.

Turkey season doesn’t open statewide until April 4.

Turkey hunting during a closed season brings a $900 to $950 fine and up to 120 days in jail.
