DNREC seeks public input on outdoor recreation report
DNREC’s Division of Parks and Recreation wants to find out more about how Delawareans want to spend their time participating in outdoor recreation activities. Over the past year, the division has compiled an assessment of public outdoor recreation needs, trends and issues. The result is a draft plan, “Delaware Outdoors: Building an Outdoor Legacy.” It reflects facts and trends in how we spend leisure time outdoors and makes recommendations to improve outdoor recreation opportunities throughout the state.
The purpose of seeking additional input is to provide the public the opportunity to view the new plan in its entirety, including its recommendations. The public input period will provide Delawareans the chance to add comments to strengthen the plan, and ask questions and receive clarification on the plan’s findings and recommendations.
The “Delaware Outdoors” plan was developed with input from a public telephone survey of Delawareans, as well as consultations with tourism officials, child advocates, and organizations and experts committed to quality outdoor experiences and healthy lifestyles.
The public can review the plan and weigh in by visiting http://www.destateparks.com/2013SCORP or by emailing OutdoorRecPlan@state.de.us.
Public comments are due by January 15th.
