Deer Check Station in East Tawas Open on Saturday and Sunday

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources today announced that the deer check station located at the East Tawas State Harbor Dock in East Tawas would be open on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 28-29, to continue to collect deer heads for testing for bovine tuberculosis.

The station is located at 113 Newman St/US 23, and will be open both days from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The DNR encourages hunters who take a deer in Iosco County to visit the check station so Wildlife Division staff can collect the deer head and other biological information from the animal.
