Emergency Vote Opens Flood Prone Region E To Hunting

LITTLE ROCK – Deer hunters in Flood Prone Region E will be able to hunt again after an emergency action by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. The commission approved an emergency reopening for Flood Prone Region E during a meeting today.

Deer hunting can begin immediately in Region E with the exception of the White River NWR.

The St. Charles gauge on the White River is now at 24.69 feet. Flood Prone Region E closes when the gauge is at 26.0 feet and usually reopens when the gauge falls to 23.5 feet. If the White River rises again to 26.0 feet at St. Charles, Flood Prone Region E will close.

The White River NWR uses a different set of criteria to open and close during flooding events and is currently closed to deer hunting.
