Pineywoods Region Fishing Reports October 5

BOB SANDLIN Water clear; 77-83 degrees; 0.22′ low. Black bass are good on crankbaits and plastic worms in 8-12 feet. Crappie are fair on jigs and minnows around heavy brush in 15-25 feet. White bass are good on jigging spoons in 20-24 feet. Catfish are fair on prepared baits on baited holes in 15-20 feet.

CADDO Water stained to murky; 78-85 degrees; 0.08′ high. Black bass are good on orange belly Rogues and black or grape 6″ plastic worms in 3-6 feet around single cypress trees. Crappie are fair on chartreuse jigs and live minnows and black/chartreuse jigs in 4-6 feet in Johnson’s Woods and around Sand Island. White bass are good on slabs and spoons in 8-10 feet Channel catfish are good on limb lines.

CONROE Water clear; 0.68′ low. Black bass are good on tequila sunrise soft plastics, spinnerbaits, and crankbaits in 15 – 25 feet. Striped bass are good on live minnows. Crappie are fair on minnows and pink tube jigs. Catfish are fair on stinkbait, liver, and frozen shrimp.

FORK Water clear; 78-84 degrees. Black bass are fair to good on red Rat-L-Traps and white/chartreuse spinnerbaits in 3-8 feet along main lake grass lines. The deeper bite (18-26 feet) is fair on drop shot rigs. Crappie are fair on minnows in 10-22. Catfish are fair on minnows and prepared baits in 20 feet.

HOUSTON COUNTY Water clear; 86 degrees; 0.34′ high. Black bass are good on black soft plastic worms near drop offs early, and on chrome/black Tiny Torpedoes. Crappie are fair on live minnows in 14 feet. Bream are fair on live worms over grass beds. Channel and blue catfish are good on trotlines baited with shad and bream.

LAKE O’ THE PINES Water stained; 78-84 degrees; 1.07′ high. Black bass are fair on slabs, jigs and spinnerbaits. Crappie are fair to good on minnows and jigs. Catfish are fair on prepared baits. Bream are slow.

LIVINGSTON Water fairly clear; 85 degrees; 0.10′ high. Black bass are fair on soft plastics, spinnerbaits, and crankbaits. Striped bass are good but small on crankbaits and spinnerbaits off piers. White bass are good trolling pet spoons and hellbenders. Crappie are fair on minnows. Blue catfish are good on shad. Yellow catfish are slow.

MONTICELLO Water off color; 78-82 degrees. Black bass are good on drop shot rigs, Rat-L-Traps, gold jigging spoons and spinnerbaits. Crappie are fair on minnows and jigs. Catfish re fair to good on prepared baits.

SAM RAYBURN Water stained; 81 degrees; 3.60′ low. Black bass to 4 pounds are good on redbug soft plastic worms and buzzbaits in 15 – 25 feet, and on topwaters early and late. White bass are fair on minnows and silver spoons. Crappie are fair on live minnows. Bream are good on nightcrawlers. Catfish are fair on trotlines baited with live bait.

TOLEDO BEND Water clear; 80 degrees; 3.95′ low. Black bass to 5 pounds are very good on redbug soft plastic worms, spinnerbaits, and buzzbaits, and on flukes and topwaters early and late. Striped bass are slow. White bass are slow. Crappie are fair on minnows in 12 – 15 feet over baited holes. Bream are good on nightcrawlers. Channel and blue catfish slow. Yellow catfish are slow.

WRIGHT PATMAN Water fairly clear; 78-83 degrees; 4.53′ high. Black bass are fair on drop shot rigs, spinnerbaits and Rat-L-Traps. Crappie are fair on minnows and jigs. White bass are good on slabs and live minnows. Catfish are fair on prepared baits.
