Elk Damage Hunt Scheduled Northwest Of Harlowton

Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks has scheduled a special two-week elk damage hunt, starting Sunday, on a ranch northwest of Harlowton.

FWP initiated the hunt to address elk damage that has occurred on the ranch.

The hunt will include three five-day periods with seven hunters allowed on the ranch each session. Hunters are selected from a roster of people who signed up before July 15. They will be notified by FWP and must contact the landowner for instructions and permission to enter his fields.

The elk damage season will open Aug. 15 and close at the end of the day Aug. 29.

All big-game hunting rules for District 540 apply, including wearing 400 square inches of orange clothing for both gun and archery hunters.
