Trappers interested in pursuing wolves are reminded that Idaho rules require trappers complete a wolf trapper training course before they can purchase a wolf trapping tag.

Upcoming courses will be in:

Kooskia, January 26, Kooskia Community Center, 26 South Main Street.

Orofino, January 27, Clearwater National Forest Service Office, 12730 Hwy 12.

Lewiston, January 28, Clearwater Fish and Game Office, 3316 16th Street.

All courses will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Pre-registration is required by contacting the Clearwater Fish and Game office at 208-799-5010. The courses are first-come, first-served and limited to 30 individuals each. An $8 fee covers the cost of materials. Lunch will not be provided.

Emphasis will be given to trapper ethics and responsibilities, safety, selective techniques, effective sets and trapping laws and regulations. This course is a one-time education requirement in order to trap wolves.

To date, six classes have been held in local communities with more than 155 trappers certified.
