Natural Resources Commission to Meet Aug. 13 in Lansing

The Michigan Natural Resources Commission will meet on Thursday, Aug. 13, in Lansing. The commission will meet at the Lansing Center, located at 333 E. Michigan Ave. in downtown Lansing. All meetings are open to the public.

Prior to the full business meeting, certain policy committees of the commission will meet. All meetings are open to the public.

At 10 a.m., the NRC Policy Committee on Wildlife and Fisheries will meet in Room 202. The committee will review information on groundwater protection and use in Michigan, receive an update on revisions to fisheries orders and trout regulations, review proposed changes to waterfowl regulations and receive an update on wolf regulations.

Attend Commission Meetings Via The Web

The Arizona Game and Fish Commission and Department are initiating a pilot program that will enable the public to view commission meetings via live video streaming over the Internet.

The trial run for this program will begin with the commission meeting in Phoenix this Friday and Saturday, Aug. 7-8.

“We’re instituting this service to allow more of our constituents to view the commission meeting proceedings,” said Assistant Director Ty Gray. “The equipment has been installed and tested, and the August meeting will give us a chance to see if any technical issues arise so we can resolve them for a full rollout in September.”

Game Commission Meeting Thursday in Albuquerque

SANTA FE — The State Game Commission will meet Thursday in Albuquerque to consider lowering the fishing bag limit at Conservancy Park Lake (Tingley Beach) in Albuquerque and to consider rules to implement the newly enacted Aquatic Invasive Species Control Act.

The meeting will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, May 28, at the State Bar of New Mexico, 5121 Masthead, NE, in Albuquerque. The full agenda, detailed agenda-item briefings and other information are available on the Department of Game and Fish Web site, www.wildlife.state.nm.us or by calling (505) 476-8008.

The Commission will consider a recommendation to reduce the bag and possession limits at Conservancy Park Lake from five fish per day and no more than 10 in possession to four fish per day and no more than four in possession. The reduction is designed to more equitably distribute the fish stocked in the lake. In 2008, the Department of Game and Fish stocked 24,698 10-inch trout and 1,211 17-inch catfish in the lake. The City of Albuquerque also occasionally stocks fish in the lake.

Pennsylvania Board Commission Meeting

The Pennsylvania Board of Game Commissioners will be meeting on Monday and Tuesday, April 20-21, at the agency’s Harrisburg headquarters, 2001 Elmerton Ave., just off the Progress Avenue exit of Interstate 81. The meetings will begin at 8:30 a.m. on both days.

On Monday, April 20, the Board will hear public comments on the proposed 2009-10 hunting and furtaking seasons and bag limits that were given preliminary approval in January. The Board also will receive agency staff reports and updates.

On Tuesday, April 21, the Board is scheduled to take official action to finalize the 2009-10 hunting and furtaking seasons and bag limits, and to set antlerless deer license allocations for the upcoming seasons.
