New Mexico Game Commission Meeting

LAS VEGAS, N.M. — The State Game Commission will adopt rules for upland game and migratory bird hunting for the 2008-2009 season, and hear an update on development of rules for the 2009-2010 big-game seasons during the Commission’s meeting July 23 in Las Vegas.

The meeting will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, at New Mexico Highlands University, Leveo Sanchez Lecture Hall G-35, on the ground floor of the Thomas C. Donnelly Library, 802 National Avenue, in Las Vegas. Natural Resources Commission to Meet July 10 in Munising

The Michigan Natural Resources Commission will hold its regular monthly meeting on Thursday, July 10, in Munising. The meeting will begin at 1 p.m. at the Munising American Legion Building, located at 610 W. Munising Ave. in Munising.

At 1 p.m., there will be a joint meeting of the NRC Policy Committees on Wildlife and Fisheries and Finance and Administration. The committees will receive updates on Lake Superior issues, waterfowl season regulations, crossbow regulations and the DNR’s budget and a review of various restricted funds used to operate the DNR.

New Jersey Wildlife Action Plan Public Meetings

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection is seeking public comment on the state’s Wildlife Action Plan (http://www.njfishandwildlife.com/ensp/waphome.htm), which identifies threats to wildlife populations and establishes a blueprint for protecting rare and imperiled wildlife in the Garden State.

Interested residents are invited to attend an open-house meeting on July 10 at Cape May Bird Observatory, Cape May Courthouse, and another on July 24 at Plainsboro Preserve, Plainsboro. Both meetings will be held from 6:30 to 9 p.m.

Michigan Natural Resources Commission to Meet June 5 in Lansing

The Michigan Natural Resources Commission will hold its regular monthly meeting on Thursday, June 5, at the Lansing Center, located at 333 E. Michigan Ave. in Lansing.

At 9:30 a.m., the NRC’s Crossbow Disability Work Group will meet in Room 202 to discuss a proposed draft language for crossbow permits.

At 1 p.m., the NRC Policy Committee on Wildlife and Fisheries will meet in Room 202 to discuss the potential Endangered Species Act listing of the coaster brook trout and wildlife regulation changes for the early waterfowl season and antlerless deer quotas. The committee also will receive updates on the 2007 deer season final harvest results and web surveys.

Meetings Discuss Wolves, Mountain Lions and Trapping

CASPER– Mountain lion seasons, trapping and a new regulation for wolf hunting seasons will be discussed at public information gathering meetings across Wyoming the second week of June.

The meetings will also include discussion on regulations governing hunter safety, taxidermists and license issuance and interstate game tags.

The meetings will be held at the following locations at 7 p.m. with the exception of the Sheridan meeting beginning at 6:30 p.m.

June 9 - Green River, WWCC, Green River Center, JWP Room June 9 - Laramie, Albany County Library
June 10 - Lander, Lander Community Center
June 10 - Pinedale, Pinedale Library
June 11 - Jackson, Antler Inn
