Milford Man Charged With OUI on Rehoboth Bay

Sussex County Fish and Wildlife Enforcement Agents conducting routine safety boardings the evening of July 11 on Rehoboth Bay arrested a Milford man on charges of operating under the influence.

After detecting suspected alcohol on the man’s breath, agents administered field tests. Fletcher D. Kenton, age 26, of 200 Lakeview Avenue, Milford, was arrested and charged with operating a vessel under the influence and a personal flotation violation for not carrying enough life jackets for all persons on board the vessel.

Kenton was transported to Delaware State Police Troop 7 in Lewes for processing and released, pending a mandatory court appearance on July 25.

Sussex Fish and Wildlife Agents Make Three OUI Arrests

Fish and Wildlife Enforcement Agents recently made three separate arrests on Sussex waterways for operating under the influence of alcohol. All three tested over the legal limit of .08 blood alcohol content in an intoxolyzer test after being stopped for a vessel safety check.

On July 12, agents observed a vessel approaching the boat ramp at Masseys Landing that was not displaying navigation lights, stopped it and tested its operator for OUI. Jesse James Graybeal, age 27, of 8 Morris Lane, Newark, was arrested and charged with one count of OUI and one count of not displaying navigation lights.

On July 5, agents observed a vessel creating a wake in a no wake zone in Masseys Ditch, stopped it and tested the operator. William D. Elliott, age 39, of 128 Quaker Road, Pennsville, NJ, was arrested and charged with one count of OUI and a wake violation.

Riverton Rabbit Rustler Nabbed

LANDER - A series of unlikely events led to the recent conviction of a Dubois man that had killed nearly a dozen rabbits at a well site east of Riverton where the rabbits had become accustomed to human presence. A tip from a citizen set the wheels in motion on this unusual conviction in which the poacher suffered heavy penalties for his actions.

Dan Kinneman of Dubois received penalties for waste of small game and for taking small game in a closed season. Kinneman pled guilty on both counts for illegally shooting and leaving to waste eleven cottontail rabbits.

Maryland Natural Resources Police Blotter July 10

Worcester County – The Maryland Natural Resources Police (NRP) has charged a Rockville man in the Sunday morning, July 6, boating accident that occurred in Assawoman Bay at the Route 90 Bridge in Ocean City.

After consultation with the office of Worcester County State’s Attorney Joel J. Todd, NRP charged Scott Howard Shepard, 32, of Rockville with operating a vessel while under the influence of alcohol, operating a vessel while impaired by alcohol, operating a vessel while impaired by drugs, and/or combination of drugs and alcohol, operating a vessel in a reckless or dangerous manner, negligent operation of a vessel, failure to maintain a proper lookout, and operating a vessel at unsafe speed for conditions. Shepard was released on his signature. A court date of Sept. 26 has been scheduled for Shepard in Worcester County District Court.

FWC Arrests Man For Possessing 133 Gator Eggs

Just a few miles from where Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) biologists watched licensed and permitted alligator farmers legitimately collect eggs from alligator nests in the wild Everglades, a Lee County man was arrested for taking eggs illegally.

On July 1, FWC Officers Clinton Bean and Joshua Caraker were on routine patrol along Alligator Alley in Collier County, when they noticed a small boat on the bank of the canal. Officers watched the boat operator make stops along the canal and walk into the woods. As the boat approached the officers, the officers detected a marijuana odor and watched as the man picked up two white, five-gallon buckets.
