NRA National Championships at Camp Perry

The NRA Competitive Shooting Division is now accepting sponsorships for the 2010 NRA National Rifle & Pistol Championships taking place this summer at Camp Perry, Ohio. For over 100 years, NRA's competitive shooting programs have offered a wide range of activities in all types of shooting disciplines. During this time, thousands of competitors have participated in NRA-sanctioned events to test their shooting abilities, while enjoying the thrill of the shooting sports. NRA Competitive Shooting Division is currently accepting sponsors for the National Matches at Camp Perry, allowing supporting organizations the chance to be a part of a long-standing tradition and legacy. Considered to be America's "World Series of Shooting Sports," the National Matches have been held at Camp Perry since 1907. Read more..

Location Change for Free Ice Fishing Seminar

Due to the high number of interested participants, the January 19, 2010, ice fishing seminar with Dave Genz will be held at a new location. The seminar will take place in the auditorium of the Police Standards and Training facility at 17 Institute Drive on the campus of the New Hampshire Technical Institute (NHTI) in Concord, N.H. (off Exit 1 from Interstate 393 in Concord). The date and time remain the same: Tuesday, January 19, 2010, at 7:00 p.m. There is no charge for the seminar. No pre-registration is required. Considered the “Father of Modern Ice Fishing.” Genz is legendary in the world of ice angling – an ice fishing expert who has taught techniques to thousands of anglers. DNR Suspends Convicted Poachers Oyster License

The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) served William H. Beck, 43, of Rock Hall, with an Order for Summary Suspension on January 8, suspending his entitlement to catch oysters for the rest of the season. This marks the first time DNR has used its authority given under State law, which provides that a unit of State government may order the suspension of a license if the public health, safety or welfare requires emergency action. “Let this be a warning to those who would violate the public trust,” said DNR Secretary John Griffin. “We take wanton abuse of the law very seriously, and we will pursue every legal remedy to protect this resource as we work to return a robust native oyster population – its ecological and economic benefits -- ... Fish and Wildlife Commission Approves Major Land Exchange

The second phase of a major land exchange with the Washington Department of Natural Resources (WDNR) won approval by the Washington Fish and Wildlife Commission during a public meeting here Jan. 7-9. In addition, the commission approved raffles for five new multi-species hunting permits and received briefings on management options for upcoming fisheries for sturgeon and spring chinook on the Columbia River. The commission, which sets policy for the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW), approved the land exchange after years of inter-agency discussions and an extensive public-comment process.
