Department of Health Confirms Rabies In A Raccoon And Fox

A raccoon and a fox found dead on ranchland in Sierra County have tested positive for rabies. No known human or pet exposures were reported. The New Mexico Department of Health and the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish are urging pet and livestock owners in Sierra County and surrounding areas to protect their dogs, cats, horses and other valuable livestock by getting them vaccinated against rabies. The raccoon was submitted by a private veterinarian, and a New Mexico Department of Game and Fish officer picked up the fox last week. Both animals were found on ranchland about 15 miles southwest of Truth or Consequences and tested positive at the Department of Health’s Scientific Laboratory in Albuquerque. Delaware’s Deer Harvest Down Slightly For 2009-10

Delaware hunters harvested 12,400 deer during the 2009-10 season, an 11 percent drop from the previous season that biologists attributed to poor hunting weather during the two segments of the state’s white-tail deer season that are traditionally the most productive and heavily hunted. The total was 1,526 fewer deer than were taken in Delaware last year, with declining numbers readily apparent during the October muzzleloader and November shotgun seasons when two nor’easter storms struck the state, keeping hunters out of the woods and deer from moving around in them. “I heard from many hunters who not only didn’t hunt during the actual storm events, but also couldn’t get into their hunting areas after the storms had passed because the areas were still flooded,” said Joe Rogerson, Deer and Furbearer Biologist with the ... NRA-ILA to Benefit from Sale of Arsenal Inc.’s Rifles

The National Rifle Association (NRA) and Arsenal, Inc. announced today the launch of a new commemorative Jubilee Series AK-74 Kalashnikov rifle developed by Arsenal, Inc. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of these rifles will be donated to the National Rifle Association’s Institute for Legislative Action (NRA-ILA) and the Kalashnikov Foundation. Additionally, Arsenal, Inc. donated a Gold Edition Jubilee Series AK-74 Kalashnikov rifle to the National Firearms Museum at the NRA Headquarters in Fairfax, Virginia. NRA-ILA Executive Director Chris Cox commented, “We are grateful that Arsenal, Inc. decided to make this unique and generous gift to advance our efforts to strengthen the Second Amendment.
