Dagsboro Man Arrested For Hunting Violations

DNREC Fish and Wildlife Enforcement agents on Feb. 6 arrested a Dagsboro man on hunting-related violations. Paul E. Daisey, age 29, of 14623 Blue Heron Drive, Dagsboro, was arrested and charged with three counts of failure to tag antlerless deer, three counts of possession of unlawfully taken game and one count of unlawful method of take. Daisey was taken to Justice of the Peace Court No. 3 in Georgetown, where he pled guilty to all charges and was assessed fines totaling $3,039. 8 Rock Hall Men Charged With Serious Striped Bass Violations

Eight Rock Hall men that were arrested last week for rockfish poaching are the first suspects to face a new, tiered penalty system, which imposes penalties on both first time offenders and repeat offenders, based on the severity of their crime. Two of the eight men— William Howard Beck, 43, and John Franklin Riggs, 43 —were charged with oyster poaching by the Natural Resource Police (NRP) in December, and the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) subsequently suspended Beck’s rights to catch oysters for the season due to repeat offenses. “Repeat offenders will not be tolerated,” said Secretary John Griffin. “The State, its partners and stakeholders are working together to preserve our resources for future generations of Marylanders and we take these crimes against our public resources very seriously.” Read more..

Missing Boater Recovered from Chattahoochee River

Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Wildlife Resources Division law enforcement officers have recovered the body of Ira Braitsch (age 64), of Lawrenceville from the Chattahoochee River in an area just south of McGinnis Ferry Road in Suwanee. Braitsch had been missing since Sunday, March 7, 2010 when the aluminum jon boat capsized while he was boating with a friend, Michael Boyle. Boyle, (age 67) also of Lawrenceville, was rescued on Sunday and taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Atlanta. He is currently still in the hospital. The response and search effort included personnel from the following agencies: Gwinnett County Fire, Forsyth County Fire, Johns Creek Fire and the Department of Natural Resources (DNR). Undercover Investigation Nets Illegal Fishing In St Clair County

Four St. Clair County men charged in with violations documented during a three-year undercover investigation by detectives from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and Environment’s Law Enforcement Division’s Special Investigations Unit have entered guilty pleas in 72nd District Court in St. Clair County. The investigation was initiated when information was gathered by local Conservation Officers that Jerry Gordon, 50, of Clay Township had allegedly been involved in significant game and fish law violations for many years. Gordon had 10 prior convictions for game and fish violations prior to the recent investigation. Detectives were able to substantiate many violations during the course of the investigation, and based on their observations and evidence gathered during the execution of a search warrant at Gordon’s residence, the St. Clair County Prosecutor’s Office issued arrest ...
