WDFW Seeks Comments On Razor Clam Season

The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) is now accepting public comments on digging days, catch limits and other management options for the upcoming razor clam season. Suggestions for the 2010-11 season, tentatively set to begin in early October, can be sent via email to razorclams@dfw.wa.gov or by Postal Service to: RazorClams, 48 Devonshire Rd., Montesano, WA 98563. Comments regarding initial digging opportunities must be received by Sept. 17, although WDFW will consider other suggestions throughout the season. N.H. Youth Waterfowl Hunt Weekend September 25-26

New Hampshire's 2010 Youth Waterfowl Hunting Weekend will be held statewide on Saturday and Sunday, September 25-26, 2010. To participate, youth must be age 15 or under and must be accompanied by a properly licensed adult age 18 or older. The adult may not hunt. The youth does not need a hunting license or duck stamp. “The youth weekend is a great way to get kids involved in waterfowl hunting. Landowners May Apply For Free Antlerless Licenses

A law passed by the 2010 Legislature allows many South Dakota landowners to apply for and receive free antlerless deer licenses. The Game, Fish and Parks Department is offering up to two antlerless deer licenses per qualifying household in West River Deer and East River Deer units that have unsold licenses after the second drawing for each season is completed. All West River Deer units except Shannon County had licenses remaining after the second drawing and now have the free antlerless deer license option available. The second drawing for East River Deer will be completed by Oct. 15. Units with unsold deer licenses remaining at that time will also have the free antlerless license available. Read more..

USSAF and Others Continue Defending Pro-Sportsman Court Decision

The U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance Foundation (USSAF) completed oral arguments during a legal hearing in the U.S. Court of Appeals on behalf of Maine trappers. The long-standing case prompting the hearing will have a far reaching impact by establishing whether anti-hunting groups seeking to manipulate the Endangered Species Act (ESA) will be able to block hunting and trapping seasons across the nation. “This is the latest in a long line of steps taken by the USSAF and our partners to protect not only trappers in Maine, but sportsmen nationwide,” said Rob Sexton, USSAF vice president for government affairs while referring to the oral arguments made on September 8. “If the anti-hunters win, they will use this example in court room after court room across the nation to deny trapping and ...
