Nonresident Idaho elk tags sold out for 2017

Idaho Fish and Game sold out its nonresident regular deer and nonresident elk tags for the first time in nearly a decade, and nonresident hunters wanting whitetail tags better act.

There is no limit on over-the-counter deer and elk tags for residents.

On Nov. 1, about 500 nonresident whitetail tags remained. Nonresident regular deer tags sold out 19 days sooner than last year. At current sales rate, nonresident whitetail tags could be sold out by mid November. You can see how many remain unsold on the licenses and tags information page.

For hunters looking forward to next year, 2018 nonresident deer and elk tags go on sale Dec. 1, 2017 for most deer and elk hunts.

Fish and Game has a limit of 15,500 nonresident regular deer tags and 12,815 nonresident elk tags as general season tags, available over the counter. Those numbers have not changed in more than 25 years.
