The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission has scheduled a Practical Wildlife Habitat Management clinic for July 17, at its Centennial Campus Center for Wildlife Education in Raleigh. The 6:30-8 p.m. clinic is free, but pre-registration is required.

The Practical Wildlife Habitat Management clinic is designed for landowners and sportsmen managing 5 to 500 acres for wildlife, and will consist of:

- An overview of wildlife habitat requirements,

- How to develop a wildlife habitat management plan,

- The wildlife value of native plants and why not to use some invasive vegetation, and

- How to utilize habitat enhancements, such as old-field management prescribed burning, mast tree planting and food plots to attract and retain wildlife.

The clinic will wrap up with a question and answer session. Handouts on important food sources for wildlife will be provided to all participants. The instructors are from the Quality Deer Management Association, a non-profit wildlife conservation organization dedicated to ensuring the future of white-tailed deer, wildlife habitat and the hunting heritage.

The Centennial Campus Center for Wildlife Education is one of four learning centers operated by the Wildlife Commission. The Centennial Center is located on the first floor of the Wildlife Commission headquarters at 1751 Varsity Drive on N.C. State University’s Centennial Campus in Raleigh.
