Stewardship volunteer opportunities in southern Michigan state parks

Want to get your hands dirty while helping to take care of and restore natural ecosystems at some of Michigan’s state parks? By volunteering to collect native seeds, remove invasive species, conduct plant and animal surveys and more, you can do just that. A handful of opportunities will be taking place in May throughout southeast and southwest Michigan.

Southwest Michigan workday locations (all dates take place on Saturdays):

May 5: Holland State Park, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
May 5: Warren Dunes State Park, 10 a.m. to noon
May 5: Fort Custer Recreation Area, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
May 12: Warren Dunes State Park, 10 a.m. to noon
May 19: Muskegon State Park, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
May 20: Warren Dunes State Park, 1 to 3 p.m.
May 20: P.J. Hoffmaster State Park, 1 to 4 p.m.
May 26: Van Buren State Park, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
May 26: Warren Dunes State Park, 10 a.m. to noon

Southeast Michigan workday locations

Saturday, May 5: Waterloo Recreation Area, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Saturday, May 5: Highland Recreation Area, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Sunday, May 6: Island Lake Recreation Area, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Saturday, May 12: Bald Mountain Recreation Area, 9 a.m. to noon
Monday, May 14: Bald Mountain Recreation Area, 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Saturday, May 19: Belle Isle Park, 9 a.m. to noon
Saturday, May 19: Waterloo Recreation Area, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Sunday, May 20: Highland Recreation Area, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Sunday, May 20: Pinckney Recreation Area, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
