FRANKFORT, Ky. — Road access to a section of Salt River above Taylorsville Lake is now open for vehicles in preparation for the coming white bass spawning run.
The gated accesses at Palmer Road and Old River Road off KY 44 at Taylorsville Lake Wildlife Management Area (WMA) will remain open from daylight until dark through late summer, except for closures during youth and spring turkey seasons.
The gates will remain open from now until Friday, March 31. Following a weekend closure April 1-2 for youth-only turkey season, the gates will reopen until April 14. Gates will remain locked during spring turkey season, April 15 to May 7. Gates will reopen from May 8 until Aug. 7.
High water may force the temporary closure of River Road.
Old River Road allows anglers easy access to 2 miles of bank along the north side of the Salt River. The area includes two gravel parking lots with space for 10-15 vehicles and several one car pull-offs spread along the roadway.
