DNREC arrest two men for multiple nighttime deer poaching
WESTERN KENT COUNTY – DNREC Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police arrested two Maryland men on multiple nighttime deer poaching-related violations Nov. 13 near Farmington during the opening weekend of Delaware’s 2016 shotgun deer season, which runs through Sunday, Nov. 20.
Steven R. Faulkner Jr., 35, of Denton, Md., was charged with carrying a loaded firearm in a motor vehicle, third degree conspiracy, hunting from a motor vehicle, shooting on or across a public roadway, shooting within 15 yards of a public roadway, unlicensed hunting, hunting deer during a closed season, failure to display required hunter orange during a firearms deer season, failure to tag antlered deer and harvesting an antlered deer without purchasing a Hunters Choice tag. Faulkner’s 2004 Dodge pickup truck and 20-gauge slug barrel shotgun were seized as evidence. Faulkner was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 7 in Dover and released on $10,500 unsecured bond pending an appearance in Kent County Superior Court at a later date.
Shawn A. Tharp, 51, of Federalsburg, Md., was charged with carrying a loaded firearm in a motor vehicle, third degree conspiracy, hunting from a motor vehicle, trespassing to hunt, unlicensed hunting, hunting deer during a closed season and failure to display required hunter orange during a firearms deer season. Tharp was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 7 in Dover and released on $3,500 unsecured bond pending an appearance in Kent County Superior Court at a later date.
