Free Talks in October Explore Deer Hunting in New Hampshire

CONCORD, N.H. — Two free outdoor adventure talks coming up at the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department explore the challenging and exciting world of hunting for white-tailed deer, New Hampshire’s most popular game species. The talks begin at 7 p.m. at New Hampshire Fish and Game headquarters, 11 Hazen Drive in Concord, NH. No pre-registration is needed; seating is first-come, first-served. These events will be live-streamed on our Facebook page at:

Experienced deer hunter Dave Priebe will present both sessions. Priebe is a lifelong naturalist, a volunteer New Hampshire Hunter Education instructor, and a Quaker Boy Game Calls Pro-Staff member.

October 5, 2016: Deer Hunting Basics: If you’ve thought about deer hunting this fall, come to this talk and learn how to get started. You’ll get the essential information every whitetail deer hunter needs to know. This session is ideal for new and apprentice hunters.

October 12, 2016: Hunting Dominant Bucks: Increase your odds of locating and harvesting a dominant whitetail buck this fall! Dave Priebe will provide in-depth information on the rut – the phases of male whitetail deer breeding and behavior – and other key knowledge of deer biology. You’ll get some important insights on hunting techniques and strategy for each phase of the rut. Priebe will also talk about areas of greatest deer activity and the effects of food, water, weather and humans on deer behavior. This talk is highly recommended for both new and seasoned hunters. As Priebe says, “Scouting is more than knowing that deer are around. It’s getting to know that deer you’re after.”
