Kleber WMA Pistol Range Closed Until Further Notice

FRANKFORT, Ky. — The public pistol range at John A. Kleber Wildlife Management Area (WMA) in Owen County is closed until further notice for cleanup and repairs.

Rounds of heavy rains in recent weeks caused portions of the tall earthen berms surrounding the pistol range on three sides to slip downhill into the pistol pit.

The adjacent tube rifle range at the area was unaffected and remains free for the public to use on a first-come, first-serve basis. It is open from 9 a.m. until sunset Tuesday through Saturday, and from noon until sunset on Sunday, but is closed on Mondays for maintenance.

Tube shooting ranges are for rifles, muzzle loading guns and shotguns loaded with single projectile slugs. They are not for use by shooters using pistols or shotguns with pelleted loads. Persons using the ranges must have eye and ear protection.
