Learn about plants and wildlife on a free guided hike

WALDEN, Colo. – Skip the crowded indoor shopping centers on Black Friday and instead learn about the Colorado outdoors with a State Forest State Park ranger.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife will offer free entry to all Colorado state parks on Friday, Nov. 26, for Fresh Air Friday. A healthy and more budget-friendly alternative to Black Friday, Fresh Air Friday is a great opportunity to get you and your family outdoors.

Join a knowledgeable CPW park ranger for a 1.5-mile guided hike (round trip) along the Michigan River through a beautiful riparian wetland that is perfect moose habitat. Learn about the abundant plants and wildlife found in the area and, more importantly, experience it for yourself.

The hike will begin from the Moose Visitor Center at noon near the Gould Loop Trailhead. Stop by the visitor center for classic souvenirs and learn about the history, geology and biology of the local area.

Snowshoes may be required. Bring your own or rent them at the Moose Visitor Center for $5 per day. Be sure to dress in layers and be prepared for weather changes.

Take advantage of this free opportunity to explore the outdoors and make new memories with the people you love. Share your Fresh Air Friday outdoor adventure with us on social media by tagging @COParksWildlife.
