South Dakota’s Draft Pronghorn Management Plan Available for Review

The South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks’ (GFP) has completed a draft of the 2019-2029 South Dakota Pronghorn Management Plan and is currently seeking public review and comment through May 31, 2019.

South Dakota’s prairie landscape provides habitat for pronghorn in most counties adjacent to and west of the Missouri River. This draft management plan, revised from the 2014 version, provides background on pronghorn ecology, past management and research, challenges and opportunities for balancing population levels and managing habitats, and objectives and strategies to guide pronghorn management over the next 10 years.

With approximately 11,700 unique applicants to South Dakota’s pronghorn hunting opportunities in 2017, public review and input are essential.
